I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Saint Michael's College followed by a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University. Early in my career, I gained behavioral analytic skills for managing and changing maladaptive classroom behavior among students struggling with emotional disturbance and learning impairments. This has contributed to shaping my therapeutic techniques on effective communication and behavioral interventions.
During and after my graduate training, my clinical knowledge and dedication towards relational issues deepened through working with couples and families in both a community based setting and a private practice setting. Additionally, I've held the role of Primary Therapist in an eating disorder treatment center—providing individual and family therapy, as well as facilitating group therapy that focused on topics such as attachment styles, boundaries, conflict resolution, codependency, family roles, vulnerability/shame, relapse prevention, communication skills, and much more.
My Background
My Approach
As humans, we find ourselves recreating patterns as a means to cope with old wounds, which can keep us stuck—preventing us from achieving our goals and fostering meaningful relationships with others. My work is dedicated to helping others identify these wounds that have perpetuated unhealthy patterns and providing guidance around relationship-healing— focusing on three areas: relationship to yourself, others, & the world. I work from a humanistic approach to create a trusting, therapeutic relationship with my clients that fosters self-exploration and growth.
I utilize various modalities to meet the needs of each and every individual including systemic, psychodynamics, and behavioral interventions (ACT, CBT, DBT, CPT). My work is guided by a Health at Every Size (HAES) philosophy as I hold the belief that all people deserve to feel safe in their bodies. For my clients that struggle with eating disorders, I will regularly be in contact with each's dietitian, physician, and psychiatrist if (applicable). If a client does not have a treatment team at time of assessment, I would be happy to assist in providing recommendations for trusted and competent referrals in order to provide for the best care!
